KNOTTED WEFT
Knotted weft functions as both construction method and material language within McArthur’s practice. Built slowly by hand through repeated knotting and fibre accumulation, the structure allows tactility, density and irregularity to emerge through process.
Developed through experimentation with existing textile structures and hand processes, knotted weft emerged as a flexible system that could respond directly to fibre behaviour, irregularity and material variation. Rather than pursuing uniformity, the work embraces tension, rhythm and material responsiveness. The resulting surfaces sit between textile, sculpture and drawing, shaped through labour and sustained engagement with fibre.
